The OCCO
Education Committee has announced that the 2009 - 2010
OCCO Printing Ink Technology Course will begin Monday September 21, 2009 at 6:15 pm and continues until April 2010. OCCO's Printing Ink Technology Course is divided into 3 years, and for 2009 / 2010 will deal with Paste / Oil Inks.
The Education Committee has decided that lectures will be presented electronically this year using Cisco's WebEx On-line Conferencing Service. You will need access to a computer with a high speed internet connection, and to a telephone connection. You must have WebEx software downloaded and running on the computer that you will be using prior to the first day of class. This means no more driving through heavy traffic to George Brown College in downtown Toronto, trying to find a parking space, and rushing to reach the classroom on time.
Due to technical difficulties trying to setup the Webex service, the OCCO Edcuation Committee is abandoning this idea for now, and will be holding lectures starting September 28 at George Brown College (room number to be announced).
This is the 33rd year of this unique course that provides theoretical
and practical knowledge about printing ink processes, raw materials,
formulations, and various aspects of the manufacturing.
Although the 3 year course is designed primarily for individuals
in the printing ink industry, it has proven extremely valuable
to suppliers to the printing ink and graphics arts industries
as well as printers who have wanted to acquire additional information
about printing and printing ink.
The OCCO Education Committee is inviting applications for the $1000 Walter Fibiger Scholarship. A description of the scholarship, candidate eligibility, and selection criteria are attached along with an application form.
