Summer is finally here!
Summer is finally here, but that doesn't mean we are switching into a layed-back mode. OCCA is keeping active over the summer months and wants to keep you informed and what has happened and what will happen.
Annual General Meeting
The annual general meeting will took place on April 23, 2008
The AGM took place at Tony Roma’s on Dundas in Mississauga. Congratulations to Khurram Shahzad Baig who was presented with his FTSC (Fellow) by Chair Darrin Colquhoun during the meeting.

Plant Tour 2008
This year's plant tour took us to CCL Label. Our group was great by Henry Laszutko and Pramit Sen from CCL. He gave us first an overview of the CCL group of companies. Altogether CCL is a group of many label manufacturing facilities. Each facility services a different type of label market. The markets are: Personal Care, Healthcare, Food and Beverage, Agrochem and also Batteries, RFID, paint and tobacco.
The CCL production facility in Etobicoke, right by the airport, manufactures labels for Healthcare, Inserts and Expanded Content Labels (ECL). The following printing processes are used at this facility:
- Sheetfed offset
- Flexographic printing
- Rotary screen
- Digital printing
All labels are 100% automatically inspected. It was impressive to see how the machine picked up every minor defect at full operating speed. CCL label is particularly proud of this piece of equipment. Here are some pictures from their pressroom.

It was one of the most clean and very well organized printing plants most of the OCCA members have been to.
OCCA Golf Tournament
This years golf tournament will take place on Tuesady September 2, 2008 at Nobelton Lakes. Tee-off time is 12:00 pm.
