Although this three year course is designed primarily, but not exclusively, for individuals in the printing ink industry, it has also proven to be most advantageous for suppliers to the printing ink and graphic arts industries, as well as some printers who have wanted to acquire additional information about printing and printing ink. Theoretical and practical knowledge about printing ink raw materials, formulations and various aspects of manufacturing are taught during this program and students who successfully complete all three years of the course will be awarded a Diploma in Printing Ink Technology from OCCO of Ontario. Students are permitted to pick and choose the years they wish to take should they decide not to work towards a diploma. Auditing the course without writing the examinations is also permitted. This is especially useful to those individuals who wish to upgrade their education or learn more about a particular aspect of printing ink technology without having to invest three years of time in order to obtain a diploma. The auditing option is also useful to those individuals who are concerned about writing examinations after being out of school for an extended period of time. This year is the second of three years and we focus on paste / oil inks. Lectures start at 6:15 pm every Monday evening starting September 17, 2007 and continue until March 24, 2008. Due to escalating costs, the fee for this course has increased to $500 per applicant and is payable upon submission of the Education Application and Release form. This fee also includes a Student Membership in the Oil and Colour Chemists Organization of Ontario and a subscription to the Journal of the Oil and Colour Chemists' Association, Surface Coatings International. A comprehensive set of lecture notes are provided upon enrollment and payment. Any cheques should be made payable to the Oil and Colour Chemists Organization of Ontario and may be post dated to September 17, 2007.
