The Scholarship
was officially renamed "The Walter Fibiger Scholarship" in October,
1997, in honour of a Past Chair of the Ontario Section, Past Education
Chair, longest serving Member on the Education Committee and the
first Honorary Member of the Ontario Section. The Education Committee
of the Oil and Colour Chemists Organization of Ontario will award
one scholarship, in the amount of one thousand dollars ($1000)
Canadian Funds, per annum if a suitable candidate exists.
CANDIDATE
ELIGIBILITY
Note: The
following is an overview and subject to change. For current requirements,
contact the Education
Chair, and request the current Scholarship Selection Guidelines.
1. All candidates
shall be members of OCCO of Ontario, or members of their immediate
family (specifically son, daughter, spouse or grandchild). The
OCCO of Ontario Member shall be a Member in good standing for
at least twelve (12) months prior to the application for the Scholarship.
2. Candidates
must have achieved a minimum overall grade average of 75% in their
current year. (Current year marks should consist mostly of OAC
or Grade 12/13 courses if the student is graduating from Grade
12/13. It is at the discretion of the Selection Committee as to
whether or not they take into account any other course marks obtained
during the student's last year of secondary school or to factor
in other OAC credits taken in previous years.)
3. Candidates
must have acceptance to an Ontario Government recognized post-secondary
educational institution.
The winner
is selected by a Scholarship Committee of three individuals. If
a suitable candidate exists, they are awarded $1,000 and receive
a hansom framed certificate.
