The Walter Fibiger Scholarship

The Scholarship was officially renamed "The Walter Fibiger Scholarship" in October, 1997, in honour of a Past Chair of the Ontario Section, Past Education Chair, longest serving Member on the Education Committee and the first Honorary Member of the Ontario Section. The Education Committee of the Oil and Colour Chemists Organization of Ontario will award one scholarship, in the amount of one thousand dollars ($1000) Canadian Funds, per annum if a suitable candidate exists.

CANDIDATE ELIGIBILITY

Note: The following is an overview and subject to change. For current requirements, contact the Education Chair, and request the current Scholarship Selection Guidelines.

1. All candidates shall be members of OCCO of Ontario, or members of their immediate family (specifically son, daughter, spouse or grandchild). The OCCO of Ontario Member shall be a Member in good standing for at least twelve (12) months prior to the application for the Scholarship.

2. Candidates must have achieved a minimum overall grade average of 75% in their current year. (Current year marks should consist mostly of OAC or Grade 12/13 courses if the student is graduating from Grade 12/13. It is at the discretion of the Selection Committee as to whether or not they take into account any other course marks obtained during the student's last year of secondary school or to factor in other OAC credits taken in previous years.)

3. Candidates must have acceptance to an Ontario Government recognized post-secondary educational institution.

The winner is selected by a Scholarship Committee of three individuals. If a suitable candidate exists, they are awarded $1,000 and receive a hansom framed certificate.
